Film Master Weekly Newsletter 16/05/11

Welcome to the start of my weekly film news letters. Here I will be discussing films I've watched this week, what films are coming soon and what's hot in the film world. I hope you enjoy my weekly updates. Thanks.

The Certified Stamp of Freshness
I will award this stamp to all films that score over 90%, and are officially 'fresh' films that will definitely be enjoyed by most people.

This Week:

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 launches
This Wednesday, (May 20 for USA) The fourth instalment to the Pirates of the Caribbean series arrives. the series may seem to becoming  money cow for the box office, but I'm looking forward to this one. This time Johnny Depp works along side Penelope Cruz, as a  woman from his past (In the film I mean). Geoffrey Rush also returns as Barbossa, who seems to lurk through all of the films. Black-beard also appears in this instalment. the third pirates film was an extreme budget, visually spectacular film, but not in the strengths of story to film critics. this time our Jack Sparrow is on a quest to find the fountain of youth and ends up on a ruthless journey. I've enjoyed the Pirates series and can't wait to see this one and it's looking very exciting.

Chris Hemsworth announces film: Snow White and the Huntsman
Straight away from the title you can tell they are trying to revamp fairy-tales and turn them into Twilightesque, dark toned movies. It just sounds ridiculous! Whoever felt the nee to take an innocent story like Snow White, and have her running about with a bow and arrow should get shot in the head with an arrow! The film is set to be released  2012 in December 21. It's a long way away, but I'm not looking forward to it.

Critical Consensus of Priest
T trailer of the film was made by young film enthusiasts thanks to Sony pictures giving people a chance to get a taste of Hollywood. Well according to the critical consensus it's a dud. With an average of 19% on RT and 5.5/10 on IMDB it doesn't seem to be very bright. Needless to say, I think I will come round to giving this one a chance at the cinema some time next week. But guess what? It's a vampire Movie. It seems vampires n werewolves are all hot from looking back since the release of Twilight. Not that I'm blaming Twilight, but from around 2007 to now vampire movies have been embellished. I don't have much explication but I'll give it a chance.

DVD and Blu-Ray Releases:
The following films are coming out on DVD:
Tangled: Blu-ray Triple Play and DVD release.
Tron Legacy:
Black Swan
Gulliver's Travels
The King's Speech
Burlesque
Waiting for superman
Tekken
The Tourist
The Green Hornet

Anticipated Movies Coming Soon:

Kung Fu Panda 2:
The first Kung Fu Panda was a funny and charming animated film with the voices of Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman and several others. Kung Fu Panda dos feel like a film worthy of a sequel, and I'm sure it won't be too bad either. Gary Oldman is also doing a voice in this which is pretty cool to know. this time our character Po, now a Kung Fu master, is fighting to protect the Valley of Peace alongside with Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) and the Furious Five. It will be good to see the overweight panda back in action. The film comes out on May 26 and I truly can't wait for this one either.

Anticipation Rating: 7/10

Cars 2:
Cars is my least liked Pixar film, but I still liked it. I think a sequel tot his film isn't a bad idea. Well this time our character Lightning McQueen, voiced by Owen Wilson, goes to the Grand Prix and meets new friends, or should I say 'Cars'. Well it seems Pixar are relying on sequels, because next year I heard they planned Monsters Inc. 2. I hope they don't go any further and start creating sequels for things like 'A Bugs Life' or 'The Incredibles. Infact, the Incredibles could have a sequel, but I wouldn't favour in it that much. The film is set to be released on June 24, and looks like a film for the summer. It will be great for kids, and for Pixar fans out their.

Anticipation Rating: 6/10

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2:
This is the finale I'v been waiting for for well over 2 years now. Everyone who knows Harry Potter knew this was coming. I have read the first 3 books but don't want to spoil the ending and have one big cinema experience. Harry and Co. are on the hunt for the rest of the Horcruxes, where the story left off in part 1. After a full 10 years of this film series is coming to an end. In 2001 I was 6 and I can remember Harry Potter very well. I guess I can call it one of my earliest film experiences that I can remember, but I have always loved the Harry Potter films. The films have gotten darker since The Prisoner of Azkaban, and Part 1 was chilling, thrilling and had some great humour thrown in to keep you sane. The film kicks off July 15 and is the film that I hope makes my summer.

Anticipation Rating: 9/10

Thor makes it's way to the box office
On Saturday I seen Thor. It isn't a half bad film but had several predictable parts. Read my review in the link below. Well Thor has already made it's way into the top 5 highest grossing films this year with a gross revenue of $317 million worldwide, making $89 million on it's first weekend. The film is so far a critical success and a definite Box Office Success.
