  4. This is Myerla btw.

  5. Quentin Tarantino

    Martin Scorsese
Those two are some of the finest directors ever! I definitely recommend you see Inglourious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs if you have yet to see one of them. Also Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver....the list goes on.
And if you have not yet seen Pans Labyrinth, I recommend doing so right away!

  6. I also recommend checking out Robert Rodriguez films, as he is one of my favourite directors right now

  7. Terrance Malick's films are some of the best I've ever seen.

  8. I second that.

  9. Beyond Pan's Labyrinth, which is one of my favorite films, Del Toro's films don't really interest me. Of the ones you have listed, I definitely recommend getting into Fellini, Tarantino and Kurosawa first. If you haven't already seen much of their work, I definitely recommend Stanley Kubrick, The Coen Brothers, David Lynch, and Roman Polanski. :)

    SUGGESTING FILMS

If you want to see any James Whale film, check out "Bride of Frankenstein" or the original 1931 "Frankenstein" film, but to me, "Bride of..." is superior. Also a another good Whale film is "The Invisible Man" with Claude Rains.

For Fritz Lang, look for "Metropolis" (look for the new restoration by Kino called "The Complete Metropolis") or "M" with Peter Lorre.

Scorcese... "Raging Bull", "Taxi Driver". If your gonna see Kurosawa, watch "Ikiru" or his epic "Seven Samurai".

Victor Fleming - "Gone with the Wind"

Fellini - "8 1/2" or "La Dolce vita"

    Bunuel - "Belle de jour"

    Tarantino - "Pulp Fiction"

    SUGGESTING DIRECTORS

Stanley Kubrick, who is my second favorite director. You have already reviewed my favorite of his films "Dr Strangelove", but how about "2001" or "The Shining" or "Barry Lyndon", "Lolita" and many others.

    Billy Wilder
My third favorite director, "Sunset Blvd.", "The Apartment", "Some Like It Hot" or "Double Indemnity" could be some other films you can review.

  15. thanks for those thoughtful suggestions. I have a review for Kubricks Strangelove and I've seen a few of his films. I also have a review for metropolis, and I have seen Wilder's Some like it hot. I'll be sure to check some of these out thanks! Oh and I have seen all the films you names by James Whale :P

  16. Buster Keaton

Wow, I suppose "everything" isn't very helpful. Try The General, Sherlock Jr., Our Hospitality, The Navigator, and Steamboat Bill, Jr.

    Howard Hawks

Try Bringing Up Baby, HIs Girl Friday, Sergeant York, Ball of Fire, To Have and Have Not, and The Big Sleep

    James Whale

Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein are probably his best known films.

    Victor Fleming

Captains Courageous, The Wizard of Oz, and Gone with the Wind

    Quentin Tarantino

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Kill Bill

    Martin Scorsese

Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Color of Money, and The Aviator

    Luis Bunuel

I have only seen Belle De Jour, which I recommend, and Un Chien Andalou, which I do not.

    Andrey Tarkovskiy

I have only seen Stalker, which I would recommend. It's not for everybody.

    Federico Fellini

Most of Fellini's films have not done much for me. Nights of Cabiria is the one I liked the best. Amarcord isn't bad.

    Vincente Minnelli

The Bad and the Beautiful is the only one I would recommend from what I have seen.

    George Cukor

Dinner at Eight, Holiday, The Philadelphia Story, Born Yesterday, and My Fair Lady

    Fritz Lang

You've already seen M. Metropolis is a must see.

    Akira Kurosowa

Seven Samurai, Ikuru, Throne of Blood, Yojimbo, High and Low, The Hidden Fortress, and Rashomon

    Guillermo del toro

Pan's Labyrinth, the Hellboy movies if you like comic adaptations

    François Truffaut

The few movies I've seen of his have not done much for me. I wouldn't recommend any of them.

  18. If your going to check out Howard Hawks, then make sure not to forget his collaborations with John Wayne. Red River, Rio Bravo and El Dorado are all great. I haven't seen Rio Lobo, but i heard that's a good one too.

  19. If you haven't seen any Ingmar Bergman you need to. Wild Strawberries, The Seventh Seal, The Magician, Persona, Scenes from a Marriage, Fanny and Alexander (the tv version), Cries and Whispers are all brilliant.
