Runtime: 86 Minutes
If you have been following my reviews you are probably wondering why I am reviewing the third film, let alone watch it. Well, I was curious to see if was better than the previous two, but no, it is no better or worse. Another example of boring horror is right here. The puppets are back in gear on another stupid journey and with some new puppets in play. It has more acting that is flat and a story that will definitely put you to sleep. Overall, do not bother with this film or the previous two films.
This entry in the horror thriller series shows how the mad French puppeteer Toulon created his supernaturally animated demonic marionettes. Why should I even bother telling you the plot? It is a boring one anyway.
The acting as the previous films is boring but I would not call it terrible. They are all playing their characters, just not very well. To be exact, the characters are not even that interesting. The only interesting character here is the titular Toulon played by Guy Rolfe. Again, we have a new director who also brings nothing to the film. David DeCoteau did a bad job and I will leave it at that.
The film’s weak points next to the characters is the lifeless story that as a dead pace like the previous films. It is as if the filmmakers did not look at the previous films and try to improve things. The film ends with a big fat stupid title saying, “Coming soon, Puppet Master 4”. It is obvious that they really do not care how unsuccessful or bad they are.
The new puppet 6-shooter is the coolest puppet seen so far through the series and is the most believable for the ability to kill. In terms of gore, there is only one truly gruesome scene, but other than that there is not much going on, which I do not mind but for this kind of concept I expect more. The film poorly made, with a bad script, bad acting and bad directing. I am truly not wasting my time with this film and will sum it up by saying it is uninspired, dull and lifeless as the previous films.
My Rating: 3.5/10
