Directed by: Tom Six
Genre: Horror, Drama
Runtime: 88 Minutes
You are probably wondering why I would even bring the film to my attention and review it never mind watching it. Well, my curiosity put me to it and I had to see how bad it was and what exactly creator Tom Six done. Are you wondering what the worst of this year is? It is right here in this disgusting display of artless tasteless cinema. Tom Six is easily a very disturbed man and in this pointless violent and brutal shocker, you will only be turning your head every five minutes.
Shot in black in white (probably for some stupid effect), the film takes place in the real world were a sick 30 or so year-old fat and short man called Martin, who lives with his mother has an obsession with “The Human Centipede”. The character is mute and very asthmatic. He plans to make a centipede of his own using 12 people, so off he goes on a hunt for people. Seeing I know most of you won’t dare go near It, he succeeds and believe me it is not pretty.
It all comes down to the disgusting and revolting idea of being stuck ass-to-mouth to another human, and here it is even grittier and disgusting than the last film. The black & white was probably used not to put people off as much seeing there is lots of blood involved, but it does not help. The black and white effect makes you feel disorientated and ill from all the blood and other disgusting things we see because the colours appear as very dark.
Why did Six bother making this film? Not only is it disgusting, but utterly tasteless to watch. There are films that are good because they are daring, disorientate you are even shock and scare you. This film is different because we have boring characters, a rotten concept and a bland storyline. Believe me, it will shock you and probably haunt you for quite some time, but it is not the kind of thing you say to yourself, “Impressive!”
As for all the characters in the film, most of them are British, and look and sound completely stereotypical. I am not annoyed by that much, but some of them are aggressive and stupid so it kind of feels like stereotyping (but what isn’t a stereotype now?). You are likely not going to know any of the actors involved except for Ashlyn Yennie who makes a return, to encounter the Centipede experiment for real. There is a doctor that visits Martin, the sick and demented man and has a long beard like something you would see in a painting from the 1800’s. I am not spoiling much by saying he dies.
I do not care how realistic this garbage film is. Yeah, it could happen and doctors could perform the centipede experiment, but it I s painful, boring and senseless to watch making it a horrible experience. I have seen a lot of bad films, and quite a few from this year. This film tops off this year’s worst and is one of the worst films I have ever seen. For the sake of humanity, stay clear of this film, you as a human do not deserve to suffer this film.
My Rating: 1/10
