Directed by: James Wan
Genre: Horror, Mystery & suspense
Duration: 103 Minutes
You can think of Insidious as the cinematic version of Paranormal Activity. With lavishing cinematography and a few thrills, the film is likely to scare you out of you r wits, especially with that terrific music work. However, the film still feels average with some of its stupidity in how it unfolds towards the end. Some of the thrilling things that happen are quite foolish, but bearable.
One thing that was impressive in the film was its music. The music added so much tension and thrill to the film. From the intensity of the title "Insidious" paired up with the surprising music to the finale, which does the same thing, the music is ravishingly scary.
However, I could not help but feel that the plot began to get very idiotic towards the end. It's use of the paranormal world, and even having an séance. The film's overall feeling is like "Paranormal Activity", "The Exorcist" combined in a cinematic expressionistic format. Overall, you are likely to jump in many scenes, and I would recommend it if you are in to horror films and films like PA.
My Rating 6.5/10
