Trailer Round-Up 2#

The Lorax
Now this is a curious animated feature. I can't say I am excited for this one, but I may see it. It is most likely to be average kiddie crap, like the previous Dr Seuss venture Horton Hears a Who. But, Danny DeVito is  voice acting so this may end up a little interesting.
Release Date: March 2

Battleship
You cannot deny how corny and action-packed this looks. It looks like it is going to have lots of mindless unrealistic action (involving some sort of alien battleship) that lots of hardcore blockbuster fans will like regardless of how generic its plot is. This just looks like another blockbuster to me.

Release Date: 18 May

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Wow, this looks silly, but it might actually be good in a corny way. And, Tim Burton is the producer, so there may be some nice visual splendor (as seen in the trailer). I have no idea how anyone came up with a concept like this. It is like be saying "JFK and the Alien Encounter", sponteneous and stupid. To be exact, the film is based on the novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith, who has also wrote the screenplay. I will be seeing this in cinemas surely, but I am unsure whether to say "Hey, this sounds like a fun idea" or "This is overly stupid".
Release Date: June 22

The Amazing Spider-Man
When I first heard of the idea I was very surprised, because the first Spider-man feature film only came out in 2001, and it was only 10 years later. It is quite early for a re-boot but the trailer makes it look quite fresh and exciting. It seems this year we are being clogged with comic book movies (The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises etc;) which I am sure fans will love. Though, not a big Marvel/DC fan, The Amazing Spider-man looks like it might be worth watching for some good ol' Spidey action.

Release Date: 3 July

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift
First, let me say this. WHAT IS WITH ALL THE S****Y ANIMATED SEQUEL IDEAS!? You know just by looking at this trailer it is going to be filled with annoying humour that makes you wish they stopped after the second film. How can the series still go on? They might as well have them go to the god damn Zoo or something. I hope this film under-performs and that it is the last of the spawning Ice Age sequels.

Release Date: July 6

Madagascar 3
This is probably the most annoying trailer I have ever witnessed in cinemas. As soon as I seen the beginning, I was reminded that this film was coming soon. By the time I got to that horribly idiotic finale, I had my head in my hands in utter shame as I heard some kids laughter. The first film was good, second bad, as for this film; I just know it is going to be horrendous. The trailer shows immature humour, stereotypes and a completely stupid plot.
Release Date: 19 October

  1. The Lorax looks like it could be okay. The trailers looked very unimpressive but the animation looks fantastic, and like you said, DeVito could be fun as the Lorax itself. I'm surprised it didn't get an Earth Day release considering the environmental nature of the original story. I agree that Battleship looks stupid, possibly enjoyable dumb fun but I won't be checking it out needless to say. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter looks awesome, at least in a dumb fun sort of way and since Burton is producing, it will at least look great. Plus, the guy does look like Lincoln. I am officially anticipating the new Spiderman movie because this trailer looks awesome as opposed to the lackluster first trailer, and I think Spidey deserves something good on his side since the musical. As for the two kids movies, Ice Age looks bad but Madagascar 3 looks fun in a kids-movie kind of way. Plus, the Madagascar films are kind of a guilty pleasure. Anyway, good blog!

  2. Thanks for reading and commenting. I think we all have guilty pleasures, but there was something about the humour style that annoyed me in the second film. Ice Age is likely to lose money at the box office..wait what am I saying? All those adults will go see it for their children to watch. And those parents will suffer I bet. Haha!

  3. True, I didn't like the second film either (and I saw it when I was a kid before I got taste). As long as this has enough of the penguins (which were the best parts of both films), I will be pleased

  4. The Lorax could surprise, it looks like the best animated film you have here, definitely better than Ice Age 4 and Madagascar 3, especially with Danny Devito. Battleship looks shite, nuff said. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter could be fun, and the second Spiderman trailer (you have the first one linked) makes it look like it could surprise everyone and be, well, amazing. Good feature btw.
